McNabb Introduced: Can't get over how strange this looks

Hey! He stole Colt Brennan's number! Brennan probably made him pay for that shit too which only deepens my hatred of that punk bitch from Hawaii. Seriously hate that guy.

On a more serious note, new Redskins QB Donovan McNabb was introduced to the media by the team today during a press conference early this afternoon. The addition of McNabb who will be 34 when the season starts, changes the face of the team and the whole NFC BEast. McNabb is an instant upgrade over Jason Campbell or any rookie the Skins could have thrown out there this year. He brings experience, leadership, and a winning attitude to a franchise that has been stuck in mediocrity for 20 years. Aside from those intangibles, McNabb will bring an explosiveness to the offense and allow us to score at least 21 pts a game. This may not seem like alot, but when scoring 16 ppg for the last 2 years its a big deal. McNabb will certainly speed the development of WR's Devin "Sticks" Thomas and Malcolm Kelly. Both these guys have a ton of talent and potential, but need someone who can get them the rock in places where they can make plays. Improved playcalling from Kyle Shannahan will help as well. Zorn couldn't call his way out of a phone booth and it seriously hampered these young guys.

The addition of McNabb certainly is huge, but it cannot and will not immediately turn the Skins into a playoff team. ESPN's , John "The Professor" Clayton must have been out of his gourd the other day when he wrote the Redskins are immediate contenders for the NFC East Title. No way. There are simply too many holes to fill. The biggest of which remain on the Offensive Line. If these needs are filled just a little bit though, the Skins will be drastically improved from last seasons 4-12 record. It is essential that we draft Russel Okung to be our LT of the future, and Shanny and crew need to bring in another skilled vet to play right tackle because Steph Heyer just isn't good enough. I could live with a line of Okung, Derrick Dockery, Casey Rabach, Big Mike Williams (Shanny loves him), and a Vet RT for this year. It certainly wouldn't be the ultimate fix, but anything is better than what got sent out there last year.

Finally, the make or break for this trade for me is what can the Skins get in return for Jason Campbell? Shannahan had lunch with Campbell today, which he described as "great" and "very cordial", but ending up admitting that Campbell has asked to be traded. If I'm Bruce Allen, I'm on the phone all day calling senile Al Davis trying to pry a 2nd round pick out of the Raiders. This probably won't happen, but one can dream. I would be ecstatic to get a 3rd back for Campbell. If this can happen then the trade has to go down as a plus for the Skins. Getting a potential HOF'er to play for the next 3 seasons for a 2nd round pick, while the team attempts to build a winner is worth it to me.
