This years AL Rookie of the Year race is over before the season even begins. Barring injury or a curse from the gods, Brian Matusz should run away with the award. Matusz was drafted out of San Diego with the 4th overall pick in 2008 by da O's. Matusz didn't even spend a full year in the minors before being called up to the majors last August. The Kid has 4 major league pitches, the best of which is a deadly curveball. He went 5-2 last year before being shut down, and this spring has posted a 3.10 ERA in the Spring Training. Matusz is the core of a young, but talented Orioles pitching staff that will hopefully be a big piece in helping the O's get back to respectability.
