According to ESPN, the Redskins have signed Larry Johnson to a 3-year deal. Johnson marks the 4th free agent signing of the offseason for the Skins. So far the Skins have stayed quiet and signed relative unknowns to help fill holes. Johnson is without a doubt the splash of their free agent class so far.
As a fan, I fucking hate this signing. Even though he's only gonna be the #2 back, I still can't see how this makes sense. We already have a malcontent in the backfield, and now we just went out and added a huge douche to back him up. I was all for addressing the RB situation this offseason by adding a young, fast back through FA or the Draft to compliment aging Clinton Portis. I don't see how Johnson fits the teams needs right now. He's 30 years old, hasn't gone over 1000 yards since 2006 (1789 yds), hasn't played in more than 12 games since then as well, and to top it off he's a disgruntled, ignorant egomaniac that has no business being on the Redskins radar at this point in his career. I hate him, he's a punk bitch that had 2 good seasons and thought he was the shit. Johnson said he imagines he and Portis forming a combination like he did with Priest Holmes back in the day. What an absurd comment, dude must be smoking some good crack to believe that. This signing by Bruce Allen and Shanny is a real step out on a limb, and is something that has the potential to be a BOOM or BUST situation. If it works well then fuck me, right. At least they didn't give him a huge contract (3.5 mil for 3 yrs) like the past idiots running the team would have.
